Eat like a local
Fairport has great cooking/kitchen facilities, so there’s plenty of opportunity to create your own culinary masterpieces, but if you want to let others do the work, check out the great range of local eateries:
The Anchor’s virtually on your doorstep. You’ll receive a really warm welcome there. In the summer, spill out to the sea-view frontage; other seasons, stay cosy by the real log fires. The Anchor is renowned for its mouth-watering fish and chips!

Another great pub, just down the road is the Mariner. Privately owned, with a great reputation, you’ve plenty to choose from their extensive menu, within easy walking distance.

DALBEATTIE & BEYOND
The granite town of Dalbeattie has lots to offer with pubs, bar and restaurants, as well as a range of take-aways – Chinese, Indian and fish ‘n chips.
https://www.dalbeattie.org.uk has a comprehensive list of hospitality venues.
A few miles beyond Dalbeattie is Castle Douglas, designated as “Scotland’s Food Town”. Lots of options for restaurants, cafes, pubs and take-aways. There’s also some specialised bakeries, fine-dining restaurants and independent food shops. If you plan it well, you might catch one of the local producers’ markets.
